The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) is very pleased, and, of course, relieved, to learn of the platform promises to support increased funding for Alberta sexual assault centres from both the NDP and UCP.

We are so grateful to our community who have advocated tirelessly for this funding commitment. Thank you so much for standing with us.

“Sexual violence is an issue that does not discriminate by age, gender, background, or political stripe. To have funding commitments from both of the major parties is not only hopeful, but also an incredible relief. This funding will go a long way to help us meet the unprecedented demand for our specialized services that we are currently experiencing,” says Mary Jane James, CEO of the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton.

SACE looks forward to collaborating with the Government of Alberta, regardless of who wins the upcoming election, to make sure Albertans will have access to the sexual violence support and prevention education that they need and deserve.
