This policy discloses the privacy practices applicable to sace.ca, the website for the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton. As used in this policy, the terms “SACE,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton, a non-profit charitable organization in Edmonton, Alberta. “You” and “your” refer to the individual accessing the web pages owned and controlled by SACE.

Gathering and storage of analytics

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) gathers some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (ISP), referring and exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.

Information is also gathered on an opt-in basis when you use the following:

Donate forms (personal, corporate, group)
Bookings forms
Invoice payment
Online courses registration

What do we use your information for?

We use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behavior on the site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. SACE may use this information to help us develop, deliver, and improve our website, services, and communications. We use this information in an aggregate fashion to track access to sace.ca, like which parts of our site are most heavily used. We will not disclose site usage by individual IP addresses unless compelled to do so by law. Web server logs are retained on a temporary basis and then deleted from our systems.

Non-personal information collected by us is shared with companies we partner with for applications used for site functionality, or to inform how our site is used. These companies include:

Pixel tags enable us to send email messages in a format customers can read, and they tell us whether mail has been opened. We may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent

Cookies are small files that are stored on your computer (unless you block them). We use cookies to understand and save your preferences for future visits, and compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. Email subscriptions

Our newsletter allows users to subscribe to our content via email. If you no longer wish to receive this email, follow the “unsubscribe” instructions located near the bottom of each email.

Use of your email address

If you send us email messages, you should be aware that information disclosed in e-mail may not be secure or encrypted and thus may be available to others. We suggest that you exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal or confidential information in e-mail.

We will not share, sell, rent, swap, or authorize any third party to use your email address for commercial purposes.

Use of your phone number

If consent is given via opt-in during appointment bookings, SACE may send automated text and email messages for appointment reminders. By providing your number and/or email address, you consent to receive notifications from SACE. To stop receiving reminders, please email info@sace.ca. Message and data rates may apply. Your phone number may be shared with third-parties to facilitate automated text messaging; i.e., a phone service provider. We will otherwise not share, sell, rent, or authorize any third party to use your phone number for commercial purposes.

Information protection

To prevent against loss, theft, destruction, alteration, unauthorized access, and misuse, as well as to ensure data accuracy and appropriate use of information we gather about you, SACE takes precautions, including administrative, technical, and physical measures, to safeguard your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.

Access to personal information

For personal information stored by SACE in relation to the site, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access so you can request that we correct the data if it is inaccurate or delete the data if SACE is not required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes. We may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, are extremely impractical, or for which access is not otherwise required by local law. Changes to this policy

SACE reserves the right, at its sole discretion to change, modify, add or remove portions of this Privacy Policy, at any time, with or without advance notice. Any such changes will be posted on this page. The effective date of this policy is August 18, 2026. Your continued use of the site following the posting of changes will mean that you accept and agree to the changes.
